VTG GmbH is the European market leader in the production and maintenance of freight wagons. As part of the company's transformation, the IT landscape underwent a far-reaching transformation as well: more than 50 IT projects emerged, each with numerous pending technology decisions.
The process had so far been run highly manually in Excel and without clear guidelines. At the same time, the company already operated a large IT portfolio that had to be reviewed to avoid unnecessary new purchases. This caused significant frustration on both the IT and business sides.
